Congratulations
to Coventry!
Since
the original formation of the Press Gang we have always enjoyed excellent relations
with the good people at Coventry RFC.
The financial problems which
have recently dogged this famous club and the terrible uncertainty over their
league future have been a great concern to the Press Gang.
The news that
the RFU have given Coventry the green light to commence their league campaign
still in Division One this coming season has come as a great relief to all.
It
is a triumph for common sense and a credit to a huge amount of hard work put in
by everybody at the club to maintain their financial viability.
The Press
Gang salute Coventry's fans and look forward to our trip to the Butts Park Arena
on September 6th.
For
the record the Pirates have a number of ties with Coventry based on our current
squad. Brett Davey Coached there, Peter Cook was born in the city, Jimmy Moore
was a favourite in the blue and white shirt, Ben Gulliver`s dad played for the
team in the 1980`s. Former Pirates favourite Matt Jess is a Cov kid and I grew
up there!
