Gang Annual General Meeting Held On Tuesday 24th June 2008
The following
is a summary of the matters discussed at the above meeting:-
The Chairman
reported that the past season had been a very successful one for the Press Gang,
with membership rising to over 250. The financial position was healthy thanks
to membership subscriptions, donations and money from the Privateers scheme and
other fund raising initiatives.
The Press Gang now has its own website
(www.pirates-pressgang.com) and it is hoped that this will generate further income
with 'e-commerce' and the sale of PG merchandise.
A deal has been negotiated
with Whirlwind Sports for the supply of PG merchandise which will be on sale at
Whirlwind Sports outlets and at the Camborne ground as well as through the website.
The Press Gang will receive a commission on all sales. Merchandise will be sold
on Mazey Day (28th June).

It is fair to say that the fortnight following
the Press Gang AGM on June 24th have not been the greatest in the history of the
organisation.
A good meeting was spoiled as several
matters which should have been conducted behind the closed doors of the Committee
room were aired in public. A culture of rumour and disinformation quickly developed
and the good name of the Press Gang, earned through the selfless hard work of
many, was badly tarnished.
